History in Australia

In January 2000 Mr Kawai arrived in Sydney on assignment from his employers.  The Jikyo-Juku School of Iaijutsu opened it’s doors soon afterwards in Roseville, Sydney.  Kawai Sensei taught weekly at the Roseville dojo until his return to Japan in 2007.  He left behind several dan grade students who continue to train and teach the Yamauchi style of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu in  Melbourne.
In 2007 the Melbourne chapter of the Jikyo-Juku school began taking students, and in 2010 produced it’s first Shodan ranked student.  In 2018 the Melbourne dojo now has several senior students continuing to study under Kawai Sensei, who returns to Australia regularly to continue his instruction to his students,  often bringing with him other renowned koryu senseis.
